Would you like to invest some of your time and talents on the children here at First Church? Whether you are a parent with school aged children, a grandparent who loves spending time with children, or someone who just treasures God’s precious children, we have many opportunities in our Children’s Ministry for you to get involved. Currently, we are filling teaching positions for the 2008-2009 year, but there are many other ways to serve. The teaching year runs from August 24, 2008- May 31, 2009. It is our goal to have at least 2 teachers for each class who could rotate throughout the year. You would work your schedule out between you. Please contact me right away to let me know of your interest. Contact Shelley Williams by email, or call the church office at 937-642-4712.Teachers needed for Pioneer Clubs
We are quickly approaching another year of Pioneer Clubs and once again we are in need of some volunteers. God blessed us with 100 smiling faces every Wednesday night last year, and I’m sure this year will be no different. In order for these children to experience God’s great power in their lives through the exciting activities PC offers, we need dedicated teachers who are willing to serve. If you are interested, please contact Amanda Williams. There are still four classrooms that need to be filled.CORNERSTONE CAFÉ
Is in need of your support. We need coordinators, hosts, and of course bakers. If you are interested in being part of this ministry on Sunday morning, please contact Donna Roby.A NEW CELEBRATION HYMNAL!
Our Administrative Council has OK’d the Celebration Team to invite those of our church family to donate a hymnal for worship in memory of OR honor of someone at a cost of $10.00 per hymnal. To fill the sanctuary and Teller Chapel 350 hymnals are needed. The Celebration Team has selected the "Celebration Hymnal" which will be used to complement our United Methodist Hymnal and will be placed in our new racks beneath the pews. Please use the order form below. A conveniently displayed sticker will be placed on the inside cover of the number of hymnals you purchase to commemorate your gift. Thank you for your gracious and caring gift!Disciple Classes I & IV

The Marysville community will be hosting a 3/5th replica of the Vietnam Veterans Traveling Memorial Wall from September 11 through September 14th at the Union County Fairgrounds. “The Wall” will be open to the public 24 hours a day during this time. To make this happen we are in search of volunteers for two hour shifts. Volunteers are needed from 3:00 p.m. September 10 until 9:00 a.m. September 15 to help with security and hospitality. If interested, please contact Duane Lord at (937) 644-8472 or Eric Klinker at klink64@embarqmail.com. The invocation for the closing will be given by Pastor Ken.Good Works Mission trip
Please join us for another one-day mission trip to Good Works, Inc. in Athens, OH to serve our neighbors in Southeastern Ohio. The trip is scheduled for Saturday, September 20th and will be from ~6am to ~6pm. Teens and adults of any skill level are welcome to join us. Children under 12 can participate if accompanied by at least one parent. This is a wonderful opportunity for families to serve together. The cost is $15/person. Lunch will be provided. Our exact projects will be determined as we get closer to the date, but will most likely include home repair and landscaping opportunities. Please sign up on the Outreach Bulletin Board by September 10th or call Tina Hubbard for more information. For more information about Good Works, Inc. visit their website: www.good-works.net.Mission Weekend
During the weekend of September 27th and 28th, our church will sponsor a Mission Weekend when we will highlight all of the many ministries, missions and outreach programs that our church is involved in. We will have special speakers at all four church services during the weekend as well as Sunday morning Sunday School classes. We will have special speakers at the Saturday night Eleventh Hour service with a potluck dinner and a time to get to know some of the people from the different ministries that we work with. There will also be speakers at the Men’s Prayer breakfast Sunday morning at 7am. Following the Sunday morning services, the Women in Mission will sponsor a luncheon where you will get a chance to hear from some of the missionaries. We will have information tables in the café and Burnside Center to find out how you can get involved with these ministries and see where God is working in the life of the church. We will also be providing information on an upcoming special Faith Promise Giving program to allow you to direct your special gifts as God directs you. We as a church need to encourage all of our members to be involved in missions in our local community and around the world. If everyone is involved and share their gifts, we can accomplish so much more for God’s Kingdom. You will be surprised that even if you only have a small amount of time and resources to share, God will greatly bless your ministry.Messenger
If you are interested in only receiving the Messenger by email (no hard copy in the mail) please email at and let her know. This will not affect you receiving other information from the church by mail. With the cost of postage going up yet again, this is another way to be good stewards of God’s gifts.Prayer Chain
Do you want to be blessed; do you enjoy praying for others; do you like to spend time in prayer? If you aren’t currently receiving email prayer requests through the church prayer chain but would like to be a part of this very vital and important ministry, please email to have your name added to this email list. The email prayer chain offers a wonderful opportunity for us to pray almost instantly for those requesting God’s healing touch.IF YOU HAVE CHANGED
Your phone number have switched to using a cell phone, OR have changed your e-mail address, please call 937-642-4712 or the church office with your new number/e-mail.
